This is one of the questions we hear most often from corporates — and also where many misunderstandings begin. Too often, global talent is reduced to a narrow definition: people with a migration background, people who don’t speak German, or simply international hires. But that view is incomplete and, in many cases, misleading.

For us, global talent is not defined by passport or language. It is defined by mindset.

On one side, there are international talents — people with migration backgrounds, whether first, second, or third generation. Many of them are deeply rooted in Germany, speak fluent German, and often have built their entire education and career here, while at the same time bringing valuable intercultural experience and the ability to navigate between different perspectives.

On the other side, there are local talents with a global mindset. These are professionals who may have grown up in Germany but are already working across borders, collaborating with international teams, or consciously building global careers. They may be seen as “local,” but the way they think and operate is inherently global.

What this means in practice is simple: global talent is not a category of people — it’s a way of thinking and working. Reducing it to language or origin overlooks the real value, which lies in the ability to collaborate across cultures and turn diversity into innovation.

Germany is at a real turning point. Between economic pressure, AI transformation, and global competition, incremental change is no longer enough — what’s needed are new perspectives, different ways of thinking, and stronger global collaboration to unlock the next wave of innovation and move the economy forward. This is exactly where global talent, in its true sense, becomes a decisive factor.
